Trapper Cabin, Carey, ID. Heritage Preservation Resources prepared a condition assessment for this 1948 structure and later won a competitive process to undertake the restoration. The cabin’s slab foundation was repaired, replacement sill and spandrel logs were treated with a borate preservative, and the roof deck was repaired and new metal installed. The techniques used matched those of the original builders except that a modern ice and water shield was installed between the roof deck and the corrugated metal. The cabin will be used as a interpreted feature on the sage brush landscape of the Snake River plain.
